About The Old Dairy Loft

The Old Dairy Loft is a charming deceptively spacious first floor apartment converted from part of the original grade 2 listed stone outbuildings set round the large courtyard and attached to the owner’s farmhouse, just 3 miles outside the medieval town of Pembroke, it nestles in rolling countryside and is only a 10 minute drive from the coast. Dating back to the 1700s, it has been beautifully converted and retains plenty of character, the large useful hallway is ideal for bikes and walking gear. Stairs, or a two part stair-lift for the less able, take you to the galleried landing, step into the comfortable open plan living space, with a cottage-style fitted kitchen area, dining table and easy seating to relax on.

A long corridor adds to the feeling of space and takes you to a well-equipped bathroom with shower cubicle and a large bedroom with A frame beams and a wonderful curved wall, perfect for relaxing after a busy day exploring the County. The rooms are dual aspect and look over the courtyard or towards the extensive lawned gardens to the mature woodland beyond. A door from the stairs landing opens to the owner’s grounds with lawns, fruit trees and vegetable patch, you are welcome to follow the path but be careful it is uneven, to your own sheltered outdoor space where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine on a summer’s evening or enjoy an alfresco meal, the bird and wildlife is amazing and the dark skies at night are particularly inspiring. For keen tennis players, bring your own equipment, as you are welcome to use the owner’s hard surfaced tennis court, at your own risk.

You are assured of a warm welcome from the owners of this 350 acre working farm set next to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the surrounding countryside is beautiful and the area abounds in footpaths and bridle-paths perfect for keen walkers, head to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore this stunning coastline, you are only a 10 minute drive from some of Pembrokeshire’s finest beaches, a walk around The Lily Ponds from Bosherston to Broad Haven South is sure to be the highlight of any holiday. Kayakers and paddle boarders will enjoy heading out on the water from Stackpole Quay, enjoy refreshments from the Boathouse Tearooms here or walk to Barafundle Beach. Freshwater West, the setting for the blockbuster films, Harry Potter and Robin Hood is stunning and popular with surfers or head further on to Angle and its choice of 2 beaches. There are a number of popular village pubs to try, renowned for their food including Stackpole Inn, The Point House, Paternoster Farm and the recently reopened Speculation Inn, just down the road. Pembroke the birthplace for Henry VI is only 3 miles away with its majestic Castle and range of facilities.

The Old Dairy Loft is a wonderful retreat for just a couple whatever the season, perfect for just relaxing and exploring this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire.

Please note that this property is set in a unique location over 2 ½ miles away from Castlemartin military firing range. The range covers an area of 2400 hectares on the South Pembrokeshire coast within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The Castlemartin military range closes for the month of August and there are guided walks available during August on the scenic coastal area that covers the military range.

Castlemartin has the highest concentration of seabirds on the Pembrokeshire mainland, including guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes.  Most important of all, it provides an ideal habitat for the nationally-rare chough. The coastal heath and unimproved grassland also supports birds such as wheatears, skylarks, meadow pipits and stonechats.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a National Trail, crosses Range East (during non-firing periods) and inland along 8 km of roads past Range West. When firing is in progress the road diversion through Bosherston provides a longer walk. Vehicle access is available to Stack Rocks and St Govan’s Chapel. Both of these are popular with sightseers, climbers and fishermen. The sea cliffs provide some of the best cliff climbing in the UK.
